Thank you for visiting Leopoldus Law.  I have worked closely with a diverse spectrum of businesses, rights holders, entrepreneurs, investors, entertainers, athletes, and high-net-worth individuals on a wide variety of legal matters. From wage and hour lawsuits and negotiating executive and talent agreements to developing growth strategies for brands and celebrities, my experience as an attorney has kept me on the forefront of the sports and entertainment industries in Los Angeles.

Some of my clients have included:

  • Actors
  • Blue-Chip High School Athletes
  • Directors
  • Film and Television Production Companies
  • GRAMMY Award Nominees
  • High-Net-Worth Individuals
  • Live Event Production Companies
  • NBA All-Stars
  • Olympic Medalists
  • Producers
  • Reality Television Stars
  • Social Media Influencers
  • Super Bowl Champions
  • Training Facilities
  • World Series Heroes

Unlike many other attorneys and law firms, I do not use the high-profile of my clients to advertise.  I am proud of all that I have been able to help my clients accomplish, but they seek me out because of my candor, understanding of their industries and lives, and often because they know I will keep the representation quiet.

A sampling of matters I have handled have included:

  • Settling wage/hour claims alleged by domestic staff and other employees.
  • Due diligence investigations for investment opportunities ranging from a few thousand dollars to $40 million.
  • Negotiating and drafting Private Placement Memorandums and Profit Sharing Agreements for million-dollar home remodeling opportunities.
  • Quietly resolving allegations of inappropriate conduct against a noteworthy actor.
  • Incorporating and developing growth strategies for a wide range of businesses including athletic training facilities, startups, and service providers.
  • Developing brand development and protection strategies for television properties, individual athlete brands, and associated businesses owned by high-profile clients.
  • Advising other attorneys on the business of sport, and provide one-day and half-day information sessions for attorneys with litigation matters to help them understand how it operates.
  • Developing a corporate structure and develop day-to-day reporting and procedure policies for a live music event production company involved in more than two dozen concerts.

My experience in the entertainment and sports industries began as a kid growing up in Colorado Springs.  My sister was a world-class gymnast who trained at theUnited States Olympic Training Center.  As a result, I was exposed to the world of high-level sports every day in my formative years.

My athletic ability was not going to take me to the next level following high school, so instead, I became a Minor League Baseball umpire.  During my time in the Minor Leagues, I umpired seven playoff series, two All-Star Games, and one league championship series.  I had the opportunity to work on the field with such stars as Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera; National League Rookie of the Year Dontrelle Willis; Cy Young Award winners Jake Peavy and Felix Hernandez; Major League managers Rick Renteria and Chip Hale; and Hall of Famers Rich "Goose" Gossage,Trevor Hoffman, Jim Rice, Frank Thomas, and countless other stars.

Once my career as an umpire ended, I pursued my legal education. By the time I graduated law school, I knew I wanted to give back to the community that had blessed me with so much opportunity.  I began working with MLB umpires, and then players.

It is a privilege to work with my talented clients every day, and it is an honor to be entrusted with the secrets, fears, wishes, and desires of my clients - and a thrill to be able to help some of their wishes come true and quiet their fears.

I look forward to speaking with you and thank you for taking the time to learn some more about me.

Always be SAFE!
